After an evening full of suspense, it was finally the golden set which allowed Team Skælskør-Slagelse (TSS) to get their tickets for the final of the Danish Interclubs after a close 4-3 overall tie victory over Skovshoved. And poetically, it was Joachim Fischer Nielsen with his former partner Britta Andersen who delivered for TSS, a few years after they had to separate because of Andersen’s knee injury.  The duo beat Houmann/Pieler Kolding 22-20 in the “Golden Set”, a unique game played as a tie break to decide which team is to go on, between players which are picked by their coaches.

Earlier in the evening, Jan Jorgensen had beaten Hans-Kristian Vittinghus in another symbolic match as both are competing for the only remaining spot for Denmark (to accompany Peter Gade) in the London Olympic Games, but the latter got his revenge as it was finally his team who got the better of Jorgensen’s and will play in the final of the year-long team competition. Vittinghus’s TSS team-mates – once the club of Gade when they won the title a few years back – will take on the other winner of the semi-final, Greve Strands –  the former club of Kenneth Jonassen. On Thursday, Greve beat Aarhus AB 4-2 to enter the final as well.

The last match of the season – the final – will then oppose two former winners – Greve and TSS, on April 10th in Frederiksberg, Denmark.
