After their second round exit from the Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open last week, Greysia Polii and Meiliana Jauhari were sent packing for the first round of the Macau event.

The Indonesian duo of Jauhari and Polii seem to have difficulties to put the past behind. After the best Indonesian women’s doubles was disqualified from the Olympics – and reinstated a few weeks ago, it looks as if they have problems finding back their rhythm. Losing to Goh and Lim last week in Hong Kong, in straight games, it was this time Wang Rong and Zhang Zhibo who got the best of the smiling friends, third seeds of the event, 21-19, 22-20. Polii and Jauhari were not the only seeds to fall on Wednesday. Out too : Chan Tsz Ka (6), Suppanyu Avihingsanon (13), Vladimir Ivanov (11), Hu Yun (the Hong Kong shuttler lost to China’s Chen Yuekun 15-21, 20-22), the mixed pair of Kido/Bernadet (8), Lam/Thoungthungkam (7). But the most surprising loss of the day was the one of Malaysia’s Gan Teik Chai and Ong Soon Hock (4) to Philippine’s Estanislao/Vivas – the touch of Rexy Mainaky with no doubt. The Indonesian legend is yet to officially accept the offer of the new PBSI President and remains in Manilla for the time being.
