The Straits Times reported last night that badminton had been restored to the list of sports after initially being excluded by hosts Myanmar.  According to the Singapore daily, badminton was one of four Olympic sports – the others being table tennis, water polo, and field hockey – to be put back in the Games after lobbying from other Southeast Asian nations at the Federation Council Assembly.  The exclusion of gymnastics and tennis stood, however.
