Shortly after Hollywood was celebrating its Oscars, the Badminton World Federation () announced its own nominations for the upcoming elections, to be held during the Sudirman Cup in May, in Kuala Lumpur. As expected, there are three nominees for President – Dato Sri Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh (Malaysia), Dr. Justian Suhandinata (Indonesia) and Poul-Erik Hoyer (Denmark).

Only two names are up for Vice-President : Paisan Rangsikitpho of the USA, is seeking re- and his challenger is Gustavo Salazar Delgado of Peru. Paul Kulzo is the only one vying for the Vice Presidency for Para Badminton.  30 candidates are also hoping to join the council, which will be elected as well, for 17 spots available.
