In the 2013 Djarum Badminton men’s semi-finals, PB Musica managed yet another win without Lee Chong Wei, who would not play more than two ties for the team before returning home for Chinese New Year.  Tommy Sugiarto and Lee Hyun Il pulled off the crucial points for Musica against Nguyen Tien Minh and Simon Santoso, respectively, to send them to the finals.

There, Musica will play the Malaysian Tigers, who again benefited from using established doubles pairs Hoon/Tan and Goh/Lim against their opponents’ scratch pairings.  Then Mohammad Arif Abdul Latif pulled off his second upset in a row, beating Wong Wing Ki in two close games to send Malaysia to the final.

“Today was a really long journey for the players, since we played to the fifth match,” said Malaysia Tigers coach Hendrawan.  “This is a test for our athletes.”
