According to the Times of India, New Delhi has been awarded the organization of the 2014 . Such bids are usually made and voted on during the council meetings or General Assembly by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), which suggests that New Delhi may have been the only candidate to host the event. “The biennial Thomas Cup and Uber Cup for the year 2014 have been allotted to New Delhi. This is a reflection of India’s growing stature in the world of badminton as this seven-decade-old world event will be held for the first time in India,” stated the newspaper.  No official announcement has yet been issued directly by the BWF.
