In what was the best turnout for the elections ever with 270 votes cast, the results were particularly close (full results can be found here).

The third position, open to a player of either gender with the highest number of votes after the first male and female winners, was separated by only 6 votes, as Imogen Bankier of Scotland was unlucky to miss out to Vittinghus.

Hans-Kristian Vittinghus spoke about his victory, saying: “I’m very, very happy. I had a good feeling before the election.”

Commenting on how close the results were, he said: “When I’m sitting looking at the results, I can see it’s very close so I’m very happy for all the votes I got. When it’s so close like this, it’s very important that everyone votes so I’m very glad that everybody turned out to vote.”

One of the first responsibilities of the Commission is to elect a new Chair to replace the outgoing Kaveh Mehrabi.

On the topic, Hans-Kristian said: “Emma Mason is I think the best candidate for the Chair as she has experience as the Vice-chair. I can confirm that I will not be standing for the position myself.”
