Viktor Axelsen managed to stay unbeaten in his home event in Frederikshavn after he beat Ville Lang in the final of the this Saturday. But the Dane was close to leave the competition in the semi final when Malaysia’s Misbun Ramdam pushed him to overtime in the third game – Axelsen won 22-20 in the decider before nailing it in the final 21-17, 21-8 against the Finnish.

“I feel good.. Even though I’m in tough training  at the moment, I’ve been able to win, so that gives me confidence” said the young Dane.

Olga Konon won the event in the women’s singles agaisnt the surprise of this tournament – Denmark’s Mette Poulsen, but the best match of the day saw a thriller between GB’s Ellis/Van Rietvelde and Astrup/Skaarup, won 21-19 in the third game by the former. Skaarup still got one gold in the mixed double while Maria Ropke and Line Kruse won the women’s doubles.
