World #1 Lee Yong Dae will compete for Korea at the upcoming Summer in Kazan Russia.  Lee enrolled in Gyeonggi in 2011 but was the only member of the Korean contingent at last year’s World Badminton Championships who was a member of a professional domestic badminton team rather than a team.  The 2012 WUBC was held in the region of Lee’s birth, in the southern city of Gwangju, which will be also hosting the 2015 Summer Universiade.  Lee won the men’s doubles gold with Kim Ki Jung, who also picked up the mixed doubles title after the pair had been instrumental in Korea’s mixed team gold as well.

The complete rosters for the Kazan World University Games, which formally begin on July 6th, have not yet been released but Lee Yong Dae is considered a headline star among Korea’s 309-strong contingent, along with superstar rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon Jae.
