In the absence of Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu was crowned Champion against junior champion Rituparna Das 21-11, 21-17  at the 78th Senior Badminton Championships at the Siri Fort Sports Complex  Monday. The 18-year-old had lost to Gohkale last year and was eager to show she was the woman in charge. On his end, Kidambi Srikanth won his inaugural crown, beating R.M.V. Gurusaidutt 21-13, 22-20.

Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa clinched their second women’s doubles crown together after winning the first time in 2009. Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Akshay Dewalkar won the men’s doubles crown and Aparna Balan and Arun Vishnu clinched the mixed doubles title.
