The South East Asian Games () have just concluded on the eve of the finale at the BWF Superseries Finals, in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka didn’t create another upset after he had beaten top seed Nguyen Tien Minh of Vietnam in the semis as he bowed to Thailand’s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk in straight games in the final. However, his compatriots secured 3 gold medals with Manuputty in the women’s singles, Saputra/Pratama in the men’s doubles and Rijal/Susanto in the mixed. The main surprise came with the defeat of hot favourites Polii/Maheswari, who bowed to giant-killers Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei of Malaysia, who had edged Shinta Mulia  Sari and Yao Lei in an epic semi-final.
