For the second time in four years, the political situation in Bangkok has caused the cancellation of the Gold.  According to a report today in Thai daily The Bangkok Post, the 2014 edition of the event – which was to have taken place from June 3rd to 8th – has been cancelled in anticipation of continued uncertainty on the security situation in the Thai capital.  The last time the Thailand Open was cancelled was in 2010, when the decision came down less than two months before the tournament was to commence.

Due to a crowded badminton schedule this year, the Thailand Open will not be scheduled for later in the 2014 calendar.
