The Confederation announced this week that the new venue for the Team Championships 2016 would be Hyderabad, India.  The Badminton Association of India (BAI) will host the event, which runs from the 15th to 21st of February, 2016, taking over from Thailand, which last week announced it was cancelling its plans to host the event.

These men’s and women’s team championships will yield significant Olympic ranking points and serve as the Asia Continental Qualifying Rounds for the TOTAL Thomas and Uber Cups 2016 (TUC).  The defending champions for the Thomas and Uber Cups – Japan and China respectively – qualify automatically for the TUC Finals in May but they may still choose to participate in the in Hyderabad in February.
