Mathias Boe and Cai Yun will not appear in the together after all.  The latest updates of the entry lists to the Malaysia and Singapore Opens show the scratch of former world #1s as having been withdrawn.

On his Facebook page, Mathias Boe expressed his displeasure that the Chinese Badminton Association had withdrawn the pair from the events without consulting either pair.  Boe said that the news reached him via an email sent to Badminton Denmark and reached Cai when he was texted by Boe.

“Both Cai and I wanted to play, but allowed other people than us to decide if we should play or not,” Boe wrote in his post.  “This is just another classic example of how much power the allows the associations to have.”

The two had decided to team up after Boe and his regular partner Carsten Mogensen had to withdraw before the entry deadline due to the latter’s recovery from following a ruptured aneurysm.
