China will host two of the upcoming major badminton events as Nanjing and Nanning are the only candidates which have bid to host the TOTAL 2018 and TOTAL 2019 respectively. The decision for the other bids will be made known this coming Saturday by the Council.  The bidding cities for the upcoming events are as follows:

TOTAL BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2018: Bangkok (Thailand) or New Delhi (India)
TOTAL BWF World Championships 2018: Nanjing (China)
TOTAL BWF Sudirman Cup 2019: Nanning (China)
TOTAL BWF World Championships 2019: Basel (Switzerland) or Tokyo (Japan)

As it was the case for London in 2011, Tokyo looks to be the favourite to host the 2019 World Championships, which usually helps the local organizers to get a chance for a test event and ideal dress rehersal for the upcoming Olympic Games. If Tokyo indeed wins the 2019 bid, this would mean that all major events will be held in Asia.
