2020 may have been a year of disappointments and tragedy for so many but some in the badminton world finished off the year with some joy on a personal level.  Ayaka Takahashi and Yuki Kaneko (pictured top) became the latest badminton couple to tie the knot, the Rio gold medallist taking to Twitter on December 30th to announce their .

Earlier in the year, Takahashi announced her retirement from international badminton.  Misaki Matsutomo, who was Takahashi’s partner in winning women’s doubles gold at the Rio Olympics, continues to play, now specializing in mixed doubles with none other than the lucky groom Kaneko.

Earlier in December, Korean singles stars Sung Ji Hyun and Son Wan Ho (pictured right) exchanged vows and in between those two ceremonies, former Asian Games gold medallist Greysia Polii took a trip down the aisle.  The Koreans seem to be the earliest of the three couples to make their nuptials public, as the Korean press reported last summer on their plans for December.

All of us at Badzine wish the happy couples every success and happiness for the future.
