The Badminton World Federation () announced yesterday the passing of former president Ian Palmer at age 86.  The New Zealand national was president from 1987 to 1990 of what was then called the International Badminton Federation.

“The badminton fraternity has lost a valuable friend and we will always cherish his contributions to develop and popularise the sport,” said BWF President Dr Kang Young Joong.  “We would also like to offer our condolences to his wife, Betty, and the family. He will be missed by all of us.”
