Former English National player Anders Nielsen, 43, passed away after fighting a battle since his diagnosis a year ago with esophageal cancer. Anders Nielsen represented his county Surrey and then England for more than a decade.

He won the English national singles title twice, in 1992 and 1995, and was losing finalist on several occasions. He represented his country 40 times between 1987 and 1996, including the Thomas Cup and won a team gold and men’s singles bronze medals at the 1994 Commonwealth Games, as well as bronze in men’s singles at the1992 and 1994 European Championships.  He also represented Great Britain at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. During his career, he won many national and international singles titles.
