Rexy Mainaky has resigned as Malaysia’s women’s doubles , says a report today from the Bernama News Agency.  According to the report, Rexy notified the (BAM) of his intention to resign this year, after the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold.  His next step is to take on the position as coaching director for the Philippine Badminton Association.

Mainaky, the 1996 Olympic men’s doubles gold medallist, spent 7 years on the Malaysian national team coaching staff, a stay that has not been without incident.  In addition to suffering heart problems, Rexy was recently moved from his long-time focus on men’s doubles to coaching the women’s and mixed doubles squads (see here).  However, the Bernama report describes the Indonesian coach as “very happy with the good treatment” he’d received from BAM.
